This annual spring event will be held during National Kite Month,on April 6th and 7th,the kite festival will be from from 10am to 4pm on both Saturday and Sunday.The Easter Eggstravaganza will ONLY be on Saturday from 11-1pm. This Festival is a free event and is open to the public.Spectators enjoy large show kites on the dunes of Jockey's Ridge State Park! Kitty Hawk Kites will also be offering free stunt and power kite lessons throughout the day on the dune. On Saturday, Fly Into Spring will continue on Jockey's Ridge and Easter Eggstravaganza will take place across the street at the Kitty Hawk Kites store in Nags Head. It is the LARGEST Easter Egg Hunt on the Outer Banks! Several hunts will be held from 11am to 1pm. This is a fun event for all ages! The Easter Bunny will be at Kitty Hawk Kites for photo opportunities and over 2000 plastic eggs will be hidden for egg hunts. The 9th Annual Outer Banks International Wine and Beer Festival will take place on October 15 and 16 from 12-5pm at Native Vine in Point Harbor. There are more than 50 wines and beers to taste, great food, live music and local artists. There will be a special reserve tasting of wines from Santa Duc (Rhone Valley, France) that will include Santa Duc's Gigondas Prestige Cuvee 2004 and 2005, as well as other wines from one of the Rhone's top producers. So far, bands include The Houndog Family Bank (a must see) on Saturday, and Mercy Creek and Ask Fester on Sunday! Tickets can be purchased and printed online here!

According to the Beach Nourishment Project Progress Reports on the Town of Nags Head's website, beach nourishment is scheduled to be complete in front of the Nags head Inn by the end of the day Monday, August 22nd.
Unfortunately we have no control over the schedule so we apologize for any inconvenience of having the dredging contractors working on or near the Nags Head Inn oceanfront at this time. They may or may not be finished on schedule and this is beyond our control, but when they are finished we will certainly have one of the largest oceanfront beaches on the Outer Banks! Nags Head's Beach Nourishment project entails the dredging and placement of 4.6 million cubic yards of sand, that will be placed on 10 miles of Nags Head’s beach, from Bonnett Street at Mile Post 11 south to the town line at Mile Post 21. (For comparison, the emergency berm installed after Hurricane Isabel only used 353,000 cubic yards of sand.)The $36 million project will be funded solely through Town and County monies as federal funds have never been made available to Nags Head.
The beach nourishment project will advance the shoreline up to 200 feet in front of the Nags Head Inn! This is amazing because the Nags Head Inn already has one of the largest oceanfront beaches of any outer banks hotels. The Nags Head Inn Oceanfront Hotel beach will be over 100,000 square feet! That is 1000 square feet per room!
