This event will be held at the Wright Brothers National Memorial (mile post 8) in Kill Devil Hills, NC. The Wright Kite Festival offers endless amounts of aviation fun.- Close to the Nags Head Inn Oceanfront Outer Banks Hotel. Held Saturday, 10am-4pm, and Sunday, 10am-4pm, the kite festival celebrates the history of aviation with two days of flight. Large animal shaped single line kites fly above the Wright Brothers Memorial throughout both days. Several other large kites of various shapes and sizes are also displayed. In addition to large kite displays, members of Kitty Hawk Kites staff will offer free stunt and power kite lessons throughout Saturday and Sunday.Inside the pavilion, Kitty Hawk Kites offers children’s kite making, beginning at 11AM each day. Nags Head North Carolina’s Beaches Ranked Among the Cleanest in the Nation

According to the Natural Resources Defense Council's annual beach quality report, Nags Head North Carolina's beaches ranked among the cleanest in the nation with a four out of five star rating! The 200 most popular beaches listed were based on how much they monitor their levels of contamination, whether or not they post closings at the beach and online, what percent of their samples exceed national standards, and whether or not the closing or advisories are issued promptly, according to NRDC’s website.

30th Annual Rogallo Kite Festival – June 9th & 10th 2012

The 30th Annual Rogallo Kite Festival, hosted by Kitty Hawk Kites, is scheduled for June 9th and 10th, 2012, from 10A.M. to 4P.M. The festival will be held on the dunes of Jockey's Ridge State Park, located at mile post 12.5. - Close to the Nags Head Inn Oceanfront Outer Banks Hotel. This is a free event and is open to the public. The Rogallo Kite Festival includes two days of kite flying to honor Francis Rogallo, NASA scientist and inventor of the flexible wing. His inventions started the sport of hang gliding and his designs have carried over into the stunt kites, power kites and hang gliders that are flown today. Kitty Hawk Kites presents two full days of large kite displays. Large single line kites, including a 100 ft. octopus, an 80 ft. scuba diver and a 50 ft. fish, will soar above Jockey's Ridge. Kitty Hawk Kites will offer free stunt and power kite lessons on the dunes and free kite making at the Kitty Hawk Kites store directly across from the festival.
