Artrageous Art Extravaganza

Young artists, mark your calendars for the 27th Annual Artrageous Art Extravaganza, hosted by Dare County Arts Council. Artrageous is a free annual arts festival for children, featuring live art displays & demos, art activities, art vendors, live music, dancing, plenty of delicious food vendors and fun for the whole family. Proceeds from the festival go to benefit the Artrageous Scholarship Fund, cultural arts programs in the Outer Banks community, and art education programs in the Dare County Schools.

18th Annual “Inshore Slam” Fishing Tournament

October 16-17, 2015 at the Manteo Waterfront

Participants compete for largest fish in four categories: stripers, flounder, puppy drum and speckle trout … plus there’s a single “Grand Slam” award for the individual who weighs in fish from at least three of the four categories, with the highest total weight.

Held on the first weekend in October with the expectation of more fish and warmer weather, the tournament commences on the Manteo waterfront, with docking available at the Maritime Museum, where registration will occur 4-7pm Friday October 16. A welcome social will include food, beverages and entertainment.

As a family event, promoters make it a special point to “take a kid fishing”. Prizes and trophies will be awarded in adult, women’s and youth divisions. A silent auction includes great prizes and gifts available for all tastes and budgets. Saturday night awards banquet will be fun for all with live music and a pig pickin’ by Chef Paul Mann & Crew.

This Manteo Rotary community fundraising event has provided over $260,000 in scholarships to deserving young people in Dare County. Bring the whole family out for great fun and support a great cause!

Outer Banks Seafood Festival is a fun and educational experience promoting, honoring and celebrating the area’s seafood heritage and community. The festival offers opportunities to meet watermen and see the tools of their trade, including boats, crab pots and pound nets. You’ll find cooking demonstrations, educational booths and, best of all, the chance to eat fresh, local seafood from more than a dozen restaurants.

This year’s special guests will include captains from the Nat Geo TV show, Wicked Tuna Outer Banks!

Join us at The Soundside event site located near milepost 16 in Nags Head. Admission is $3.00 for adults.

The 9th Duck Jazz Festival presented by PNC returns on Columbus Day weekend in 2015. On Sunday, October 11, 2015, enjoy the free, non-ticketed, day-long festival showcasing national, regional and local jazz musicians on two stages.

Gates open at 10:00 a.m. with live music starting at 11:00 a.m. Enjoy jazz-related events leading up to the main event with activities like a jazz-themed movie on the Green, live music and special activities taking place at local Duck businesses.
