The super sun, sand and surf on the Outer Banks NC is well known to many, but there are also hidden special summer secrets to discover this time of year. Beachcombers will notice that the pull of the full moon often causes huge tidal pools on the beach at low tides. On nighttime strolls you are also likely to see bioluminescence rolling in the Atlantic Ocean waves. Sometimes this luminescence even permeates the beach, so it glows around your steps as your foot presses into the sand. This incredible natural phenomenon is also somewhat magical to experience!
This is the 76th Anniversary Season of Pulitzer Prize winning playwright Paul Green’s The Lost Colony. This symphonic drama recounts the historical events leading to the disappearance of the first English colonists who settled on Roanoke Island over 400 years ago. A live performance featuring epic battles and Indian dances to the pageantry of the Queen and her court.
The Lost Colony is located a short drive away from the Nags Head Inn on Roanoke Island.

Renovations at Nags Head Inn Oceanfront are proceeding smoothly and beautifully as the 2nd and 5th floors have been completed. The first thing you notice entering any of the updated oceanfront rooms, which are all receiving improvements, is that everything is so much brighter, the space literally appears larger! There’s more glazing area, there’s a nifty screened ventilation window to let ocean wave sounds in when you want them and there’s a ‘soft close’ new French door that’s so tight, you can also electively choose to close out sounds to a whisper hush. That’s what you get with two layers of 3/4″ specially formulated plate glass with a 1/2″ air space as well as solid storm protection … designed to repel projectiles up to 130+mph!
All Bathrooms now have a crisp contemporary feel, blending warm colors with sleek modern fittings, fixtures and accessories. Brand new ‘green approved’ low-flow toilets are ultra-efficient plus there are extra little touches like ‘architectural ceiling tiles’ that not only add elegant pattern and texture, they function to provide both sound and temperature insulation.
